U.S. Representative Ander Crenshaw Honored with Goodwill® Policymaker Award

WASHINGTON, DC – Goodwill Industries International recently honored U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw (R-FL) with a 2015 Goodwill Policymaker Award for his commitment to advancing Goodwill’s mission of helping people build careers and gain employment. The award was presented on Tuesday, April 14 during a reception in Washington, DC, as part of Goodwill’s annual advocacy event.
Congressman Crenshaw co-sponsored the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, which President Obama signed into law in December 2014. The legislation eases financial strains faced by individuals with disabilities by making tax-free savings accounts available to cover qualified expenses such as education, housing and transportation, without jeopardizing disabilities-related benefits.
The representative was nominated by Goodwill Industries of North Florida (Jacksonville). He is an annual supporter of the agency’s Striving to Succeed Luncheon and Fashion Show held each November. The event pays tribute to three people who have changed their lives because of Goodwill services.
“Because of leaders like Congressman Crenshaw, Goodwill is able to work with policymakers at the national level to ensure more people have access to programs and services that can lead to employment and financial stability,” said Robert Thayer, president of Goodwill Industries of North Florida. “We’re pleased that Goodwill Industries International has honored him for his longstanding support.”
