In Phoenix, Goodwill® Opens Two New Career Centers at Local Community College Campuses

Community College Career CenterThis past February, Goodwill of Central Arizona (Phoenix) celebrated the grand openings of two Goodwill career centers on-site at Maricopa Skill Center’s (MSC) two Phoenix area campuses.  These are the first Goodwill Career Center locations to open on-site at a community college. The career centers were opened to build upon services currently offered to MSC students as well as to support career exploration for members of the community who are seeking employment.

“Maricopa Skill Center’s partnership with Goodwill allows us to provide greater opportunities for our students and the public,” interim Director CJ Wurster said. “I am excited that Goodwill has been able to help the school expand the Workforce Center. It is a wonderful way to help the community.”

MSC, a division of GateWay Community College and a part of the Maricopa County Community College District, offers career and technical educational training programs in business and technology, cosmetology, health and skilled trades. Additionally, MSC provides students and the public with opportunities to find jobs for free. Goodwill is a long-time community partner of MSC, having hosting multiple regional job fairs at MSC’s campuses in recent years.

Goodwill’s career centers will provide career guidance and coaching, professional resume development assistance, and host employer job fairs. The centers are an on-campus connection to the Phoenix Goodwill’s employment and job preparation resources and a source for students and the public to connect with local, hiring employers.

“Through our partnership with MSC, students and the public will now have access to all of Goodwill’s employment services at a convenient location,” said Kimberly Hall, Goodwill of Central Arizona director of career services.

Additionally, the Goodwill recently partnered with other Phoenix area nonprofits to create new career Access Points, which will allow them to expand their employment services to those who need it most.
