The group of 160 member organizations - which includes Habitat for Humanity, the Academy for Educational Development and Mobility International - works to advance social justice and basic dignity for all through the alleviation of poverty, exclusion and suffering. "Through its membership, Goodwill hopes to build its network of partners with experience in implementing development programs abroad," says George W. Kessinger, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "We know that our goal of helping people achieve economic independence and improve their standard of living will be better reached through collaboration with organizations that have a proven track record of successful international programs." Founded in 1902, Goodwill provides job training and career services to people with disabilities, low-wage workers and other job seekers through its network of 205 independent, community-based organizations in 24 countries. Last year, more than 846,000 people in the United States and Canada benefited from Goodwill's employment programs. |
