Santa Ana, CA - An authentic 1923 Frank Weston Benson watercolor earned a high bid of $165,002 on shopgoodwill.com, the first and only Internet auction site owned and operated by a nonprofit organization. The painting was donated to Goodwill Industries of the Columbia-Willamette (Portland, OR) and authenticated by Mark Santos of Portland's Santos Gallery.

Since its launch in 1999, shopgoodwill.com has earned more than $35 (m) million in revenues for Goodwill job training and career programs across the United States and Canada. Items sold on the site include an authentic Picasso etching, musical instruments, vintage clothing, rare Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels cars.

Frank Weston Benson (1862-1951) is best known for his masterpiece paintings of American society at the turn of the 20th century. His paintings hang in dozens of museums and galleries across the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
