Remember September 11 By Helping Your Community Through One Day's Pay
September 7, 2004 |
Rockville, MD —
Honor the lives of those lost on September 11 and join hundreds of
thousands of Americans in the One Day's Pay movement to support your
community. Goodwill Industries and other nonprofit partners selected by
One Day's Pay encourage you to volunteer or donate one day's pay and
help provide vital community services.
"Today, more than 8
million Americans are unemployed. By donating your gently used clothes
and household goods to Goodwill, you are helping job seekers across the
country find work, earn a paycheck and support their " says George W.
Kessinger, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International.
“Donating to Goodwill is just one simple way of observing September 11,
a way that can become part of your every day.”
Donated goods are sold in Goodwill retail stores and online at shopgoodwill.com,
earning revenue for Goodwill job training and career services.
Nationally, the organization channels 84 percent of its revenues
directly into its programs. Last year, more than 616,000 people
benefited from Goodwill career programs.
“At Goodwill
Industries, we believe that work creates the economic energy that
builds strong families and strong communities,” says Kessinger.
One
