Los Angeles, CA/Rockville, MD — Share the warmth of the holiday season and support Samantha's Coat and Clothing Drive. Inspired by the film Samantha: An American Girl Holiday,
The WB, American Girl® and Tide are teaming up with Goodwill Industries
to collect gently used clothing between now and the end of the year.
“Start
the holiday season off right by giving the gift of hope,” says George
W. Kessinger, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International.
“Every donation to Goodwill helps people who want to work find a job,
earn a paycheck and support their families.” Donations to Goodwill are
sold in 1,950 retail stores in North America and online at www.shopgoodwill.com.
Goodwill channels 84 percent of its revenues into job training and
career programs for people with disabilities, welfare recipients,
dislocated workers and other job seekers.
In the movie,
Samantha™ asks her friends at school to donate their coats, hats and
gloves to help her friend Nellie™, who lives in an orphanage. “It's a
tale that warms your heart,” says Sonia Borris, Vice President,
Integrated Marketing, The WB. “We are pleased to bring this story to
life for the benefit of Goodwill Industries.” Samantha: An American Girl Holiday airs Tuesday, November 23, at 8:00 p.m. EDT / 7:00 p.m. CDT, with an encore presentation on Thanksgiving Day.
Goodwill
accepts clothing, household items, toys, computers, cars and other
vehicles - even those holiday gifts that aren't quite right. To find
out how to start your own Samantha's Coat and Clothing Drive, visit www.thewb.com/americangirl. To find the Goodwill near you, use the online locator at www.goodwill.org, or call (800) 664-6577.
American Girl has donated three Samantha and two Nellie dolls for an online auction at www.shopgoodwill.com,
Goodwill's own Internet auction site, from Monday, November 22 to
Monday, December 6. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Goodwill's
job training and career programs.
