Goodwill Industries Opens Donation Site On Your Desktop
November 29, 2004 |
Rockville, MD — Just in time for the giving season, Goodwill's newest donation center has opened on the Internet at www.goodwill.org .
Donors who wish to give money can use the new online donation service
to support their participating local Goodwill agency, or the
international Goodwill organization.
“This new donation site
is as convenient as your computer, and gives people another way to
support Goodwill,” says George W. Kessinger, President and CEO of
Goodwill Industries International. “With just a few clicks, you can
make 2005 a brighter year for someone who needs a job.”
Financial
and material donations to Goodwill fund job training and career
services for people with disabilities, welfare recipients, dislocated
workers and other job seekers. Goodwill channels 84 percent of its
revenues directly into its programs. In 2003, more than 616,000 people
benefited from Goodwill's career services.
Online transactions
are confidential and automatically encrypted to ensure security.
Donations take up to 48 hours to process and reach the selected
Goodwill agency. Donors will receive a receipt at the end of the
transaction. All contributions to Goodwill are tax deductible. |
