Public Policy Priorities

Help Goodwill advocate for legislation that benefits the people we serve – people with severe disabilities, ex-offenders, seniors seeking employment and anyone experiencing difficulty finding a job.

You can support Goodwill’s legislative agenda by writing your Members of Congress on these issues through our Legislative Action Center.

Help secure funding for programs that put people to work, including initiatives to help seniors, former prisoners and rural workers find employment. 

* Making Consumer Products Safe

With new lead limits in place for children’s clothing, help keep Goodwill stores open by asking the Consumer Product Safety Commission to issue guidance identifying products known to exceed the commission’s new lead limits.  

* Supporting Workers (Workforce Investment Act/

Vocational Rehabilitation Act)

Help ensure the public workforce system is responsive to the needs of workers and that people with disabilities can find work in the private and public sector.

* Modernizing the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act/

AbilityOne Program

Support updates to this landmark legislation to expand work opportunities for people with severe disabilities and provide incentives for employers to hire them. 

Help veterans get good jobs, support a tax provision enabling people 70 ½ and older to donate from their Individual Retirement Accounts, and much more.
