Goodwill® Celebrates National Thrift Shop Day

Shop Goodwill and Help People Earn Jobs!
ROCKVILLE, MD — Goodwill Industries International celebrates National Thrift Shop Day and encourages people across the nation to shop at Goodwill to do more than just snag great deals. With each purchase at Goodwill, shoppers contribute to programs that provide job placement, education, training, and career development that help people in the community earn jobs.
“During National Thrift Shop Day, thrifters not only celebrate the values of the sustainable and discount aspects of thrifty fashion, but by shopping at Goodwill, they can have an even greater impact and play a role in putting their neighbors who are unemployed or underemployed back to work,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “Last year, Goodwill placed more than 313,000 people in jobs and provided services to more than 2 million people to help them advance in their careers, and build their career and financial assets.”
For National Thrift Shop Day, Goodwill and Ad Council are partnering with YouTube Star Jenn Im, (ClothesEncounters) and fashion creator Michael-Anthony Spearman (The Big Fashion Guy), as part of the Ad Council’s Creators for Good program where top digital creators develop content for their platforms on behalf of the Ad Council’s national social good campaigns. Both representatives serve as ambassadors for Goodwill’s “Donate Stuff. Create Jobs.” national PSA campaign. In that role, they discuss the impact of donating to Goodwill and encourage members of the public to become job creators.
Michael-Anthony will be offering thrifting tips through his adventures shopping at Goodwill on his social channels. His testimonial video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMzNmo_r2tw
Jenn’s testimonial video can be found here: https://youtu.be/WjJofNZ4GW0 Jenn will also publish an Instagram Story in celebration of National Thrift Shop Day, urging viewers to donate to Goodwill to do their part in creating jobs in their communities.

Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey is participating in a “thrift store” crawl organized by donateNYC. Customers who register for the crawl will receive a 25 percent discount from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Goodwill. In addition, influencer and YouTube creator Kailee Mann will style consumers at a Goodwill store location and styling sessions will occur at three additional Goodwill store locations in Manhattan.
