Give Twice by Holiday Shopping at Goodwill®

Green Monday is a Great Time to Give a Present and Create a Job

ROCKVILLE, MD — One of the biggest days of the shopping season is Green Monday — the second Monday in December. For many shoppers, it’s the final day they can make online purchases and still qualify for free shipping. Many shoppers are feeling the time pinch this year given the relatively few days in the holiday shopping season. Because of that, retail analysts have been forecasting strong growth in online sales.
When people purchase holiday gifts from Goodwill, it’s actually giving twice. Not only are they buying gifts for loved ones, but they’re also making it possible for someone to find a job. That is because Goodwill funds its job training services through the items that it sells online and in its stores. When shoppers get gifts for family and friends at Goodwill, they’re helping to provide training or other resources for someone who is looking for a job.
There is also a third way to make this holiday season special. Individuals and families can donate clothing and household items to Goodwill that others may want to buy, because 82 percent of all sales will go to fund Goodwill’s job training, employment placement and other services.
“At Goodwill, we truly believe that it feels good to give back,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “And what better time to do that than during the Season of Giving? Our stores are open throughout the holiday season. Contact 1-800-GOODWILL or visit goodwill.org to find the store hours nearest you.”
Even if shoppers are unable to get all their purchases made before Green Monday, Goodwill is still a great option for holiday shopping needs.
It feels good to give a present and create jobs this holiday season.
