As the San Antonio community recovers from the economic challenges resulting in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodwill San Antonio’s Good Careers Academy is collaborating with Project Quest to help provide vocational training to individuals whose livelihood was negatively impacted by the pandemic.

When Hurricane Laura hit southwestern Louisiana six weeks ago, it left countless damaged roofs its wake. Goodwill of Acadiana led the charge to collect tarps for distribution to their neighbors who were hit hard by the storm, which would serve as temporary coverings until the roofs could be repaired. Now, after Hurricane Delta made landfall on October 9 and battered homes in Acadia, Vermilion and Lafayette parishes, among others, the Goodwill is again collecting tarps to help those affected.
Goodwill Industries of New Mexico works with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce to connect low-income seniors, ages 55 and over, with work experience and training to assist them in securing permanent community-based employment. Through the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), the Goodwill serves a thriving Hispanic population in Albuquerque; nearly half of all Goodwill SCSEP participants are Hispanic.
In recognition of National Digital Inclusion Week October 5-9, Goodwill San Antonio is asking business and community partners to donate gently used devices in support of its Technology Access Program targeting individuals and organizations who have limited access to technology. The organization is aiming to collect 1,900 laptops over the next four months.
