Beyoncé Encourages Fans to Donate to Goodwill

Goodwill Accepts Donations at North American Concerts
Rockville, MD — Goodwill Industries International will host a mobile donation center at Beyoncé’s The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour locations throughout the United States and Canada. During her North American tour, Beyoncé will encourage fans and concert attendees to support Goodwill’s job training and community-based services that reduce unemployment and help people care for their families. Charitybuzz.com is auctioning special ticket packages for the tour, with the revenue benefitting Goodwill.
Fans can support Goodwill in person at the tour venues in 24 North American cities. Concert attendees can donate gently used clothing, electronics and small household goods outside the concert venue. Items will be sold in Goodwill stores, and revenues will benefit Goodwill’s employment programs for people with disabilities and disadvantages in their local communities. Donors and visitors to the Goodwill mobile donation site will also have a chance to win prizes (where permitted and while supplies last).
“Goodwill puts people first and helps them find jobs and rebuild their careers,” Beyoncé said. “I am excited to team up with an organization that helps people get back to work by providing education, job training and placement services.”
Fans don’t have to be at the concert to support Goodwill. To join Beyoncé in her support of the organization and its mission, donors can drop off their gently used items to any of Goodwill’s more than 4,800 stores and donation centers. When donors give to Goodwill, they help people in their local communities get the job training and career services they need to find jobs and support their families. They also help people gain access to support services to build their careers and make the most of their paychecks, including career counseling, access to free tax preparation services, mentoring and financial coaching.
“Many people in our communities are still feeling the effects of the economic downturn, and it is our duty to help them strengthen their work skills so they can provide for their families,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “We’re proud that Beyoncé is using her platform to share the positive impact Goodwill has on local communities, the environment and the lives of the millions of people Goodwill has helped. We are incredibly grateful for her support of Goodwill’s mission.”
