Congressman Michaud Accepts National Goodwill Recognition

Rockville, MD — Goodwill Industries International honors Congressman Mike Michaud (D-ME) as a recipient of its National Policymaker Award for 2011.This award recognizes a federal policymaker who has demonstrated support for the public policy priorities of Goodwill® and is an advocate of the organization’s job training programs.
Goodwill Industries® of Northern New England (Portland, ME) nominated Rep. Michaud for supporting legislation that directly benefits the people Goodwill serves; specifically legislation that supports veterans and those that advocate for job creation and increased employment opportunities.
“Congressman Michaud supports legislation that helps our communities develop skilled employees who are ready to work,” said John Watson, interim president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. “His support of workforce development legislation helps Goodwill prepare people to make positive contributions to our communities.”
At a reception in Washington, DC, on Monday, April 11, Rep. Michaud was recognized and thanked for being an advocate for issues relevant to Goodwill and its mission of helping people build careers and strengthen their families and communities. The reception was part of Goodwill Industries International’s fifth annual Advocacy Day.
