Congresswoman Pingree Recognized by Goodwill Industries®

Rockville, MD. – Goodwill Industries International is pleased to honor Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D, Maine) as a recipient of its Goodwill® National Policymaker Award for 2010.
The award recognizes an elected leader who has clearly demonstrated support for Goodwill’s public policy priorities.
Rep. Pingree was nominated by Goodwill Industries of Northern New England (Portland, ME) for sponsoring and co-sponsoring several bills that align with Goodwill’s mission of providing employment for people with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and others facing challenges to finding employment.
“Congresswoman Pingree had a very successful first year in office in 2009,” said Jane Driscoll, vice president of public affairs at Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. “She has shown her support for legislation that funds and supports job development and training, community service and volunteerism, and better access to services and technology for people with disabilities.”
At a reception in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, April 27, Rep. Pingree was recognized and thanked for her ongoing concern for issues relevant to Goodwill. The reception was part of Goodwill Industries International’s fourth Advocacy Day — “Invest in the American Worker.”
“For 100 years, Goodwill has served this country and helped those who just need a little help getting by and who deserve the opportunity to succeed,” said Rep. Pingree. “I am honored to accept this award.”
