Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley Honored with Goodwill® Advocacy Leader Award

Rockville, MD – Goodwill Industries International has named Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley (Frederick, MD) as its Advocacy Leader in 2011.
The award recognizes a Goodwill® agency that has demonstrated leadership and commitment to advancing Goodwill’s policy and advocacy efforts to further Goodwill’s mission of helping people secure employment and build stronger communities. The agency is also recognized for building strong relationships with federal and state policymakers.
Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley is recognized for meeting with lawmakers and educating them on issues important to Goodwill and its legislative platform. The agency has urged policymakers to support legislation that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities and has educated lawmakers on Goodwill’s community-based services such as job training courses, youth mentoring and computer recycling. The Frederick Goodwill takes part in local coalitions to advance Goodwill’s mission of helping people find jobs and strengthen their families and communities.

At a reception in Washington, DC, on Monday, April 11, Dan Kurtenbach, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley (Frederick, MD) accepted the award on behalf of the agency.
“The Frederick Goodwill knows the importance of being an active part in the political process and educating policymakers on Goodwill’s mission,” said Kurtenbach. “We’re honored to receive this award and will continue to build stronger communities through work.”
The reception was part of Goodwill Industries International’s fifth annual Advocacy Day in Washington, DC.
