Goodwill® Recognized With Two Leadership Excellence Awards

Goodwill’s Executive Development Program Among Top Leadership Programs Nationwide –
Senior Director of Leadership Development, Lane Schonour, Honored As a Top Practitioner

ROCKVILLE, MD — Goodwill is proud to announce that it is the recipient of two prestigious Leadership Excellence Awards, which acknowledge the best leadership programs and executives in the United States. Produced by HR.com, the awards salute the top 10 percent of applicants across 34 categories.
Goodwill Industries International’s Executive Development Program is among the winners in the Best Corporate University category, and Goodwill Industries International Senior Director of Leadership Development, Lane Schonour, is named as one of the Top Corporate Leader Award winners.
Goodwill’s Executive Development Program is an intensive 18-month learning program that features a blend of classroom and applied learning with a focus on results and performance. The curriculum is focused on developing the skills necessary for success as a Goodwill CEO.
Schonour has been with Goodwill for 18 years and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the current iteration of the Executive Development Program and Goodwill’s comprehensive leadership development strategy. Schonour has a master’s degree in human resources development from Marymount University. In addition, he is completing his doctoral dissertation, which is focused on researching leadership and innovation within high-performing nonprofit organizations, at George Washington University.
“We’ve long been proud of Goodwill’s Executive Development Program and the hard work Lane Schonour has devoted to its development and execution. The program is a demonstration of Goodwill’s high investment in transforming experienced leaders into top leaders who are best prepared to lead critical mission-driven work,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International.
“Goodwill is honored to be recognized by our peers and HR.com with these awards.”
Leadership Excellence Award recipients are selected based on an application and nomination process as well as voting by users of the leadership programs. More than 4,500 companies applied for this year’s awards, and 600,000 people voted on their programs to provide the most comprehensive ratings ever produced. The Leadership Excellence Award winner rankings were recently presented at the LEAD2016 event at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN.
“Effective leadership development programs and activities are a must in today’s business. Without leadership, all other resources are ineffective, whether you are operating a nonprofit, educational institution, government department, small business, or a large corporation. Programs recognized in the Leadership Excellence Awards program have made significant contributions developing leaders,” said Debbie McGrath, CEO of HR.com.
