Planet Green Joins Goodwill’s Donate Movement

ROCKVILLE, MD — Goodwill Industries International has welcomed Planet Green™ — the television network devoted to conscious living — as an official partner of the Donate Movement, a public awareness initiative designed to teach consumers about the power of their donations on both people and the planet. A multi-platform media destination, Planet Green joins Family Circle, Hanes and Levi’s in an effort to raise awareness of the movement, the Donate icon, and the power of donations in our communities.

Planet Green has collaborated with Goodwill® to develop a partnership that leverages television and print mediums, as well as its online medium, TreeHugger.com. Highlights of the collaboration include Goodwill’s Donate Movement public service announcements now running on the Planet Green network, as well as in-store and online co-branding materials for Goodwill agencies across the country.

“Goodwill and Planet Green are working together to encourage consumers to donate consciously and responsibly to reputable organizations that can turn donations into something more,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “Goodwill and Planet Green are calling on consumers to ‘reduce, reuse and repurpose,’ and focus on Goodwill as both a donation and retail destination.”

In line with the partnership, Planet Green launched a new docu-series, “Dresscue Me,” which premieres on Tuesday evenings at 10:30 p.m. ET featuring self-taught designer Shareen Mitchell. With stores on both coasts, Mitchell works with everyday women on her show to turn vintage clothing finds into chic, fashion-forward frocks. “Dresscue Me” captures the hearts of millions of Goodwill shoppers and fashionistas for unique, affordable one-of-a-kind vintage clothing.
“It’s the idea of conscious living,” said Laura Michalchyshyn, president and general manager of Planet Green. “As a partner in the Donate Movement, we are asking viewers to consider the small ways they can help their community and the environment by giving to reputable organizations like Goodwill, which turns donations into jobs that help to strengthen families and build communities.”
