U.S. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers Honored with Goodwill® Policymaker Award

WASHINGTON, DC – Goodwill Industries International recently honored U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) with a 2015 Goodwill Policymaker Award for her commitment to advancing Goodwill’s mission of helping people build careers and gain employment.
Rep. McMorris Rodgers supported the passage of the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, which President Obama signed into law in December 2014. The legislation eases financial strains faced by individuals with disabilities by making tax-free savings accounts available to cover qualified expenses such as education, housing and transportation, without jeopardizing disabilities-related benefits. The congresswoman also advocates funding for critical programs and services for veterans.
“We’re pleased to see Goodwill honor the efforts of Rep. McMorris Rodgers,” said Clark Brekke, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest (Spokane, WA). “She’s been a strong advocate for employment opportunities for people with disabilities, and she truly understands Goodwill’s mission and important work.”
The award was presented on Tuesday, April 14 during a reception in Washington, DC, as part of Goodwill’s annual advocacy event.
