My Story: Wayne Quamina

Wayne decided to leave behind his successful career with the Port of Trinidad in order to move to the United States and be with his newborn son. He found work as a manual labor, but was forced to stop after his doctors discovered he had congestive heart failure. With Goodwill's support, he found a position that allows him to use his skills while not risking his health.

My Story: Mudhaffer Al-Momani

Al immigrated to the United States in 1989 and faced not only family hardships but retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that caused him to lose his vision. Even with a graduate degree, he faced struggles finding a job due to his disability. With support from Goodwill, Al wsa connected to a job at a NY law firm and is now independent and self-sufficient.

GCFLatino.org creates learning opportunities for Spanish speakers who want to enhance essential skills needed for employment. The web-based curricula of the virtual workshops can help anyone become highly knowledgeable on Windows Office programs, social media platforms, computer applications and day-to-day life skills. Tutorials on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint help users acquire essential skills for office or administrative positions.

Congress to Resume Spending Bill Discussions on Heels of 2011 Logjams

When the 112th Congress wrapped up its first session in December, it left behind a legacy of partisanship that caused public approval ratings to reach historic lows. As the second session kicks into gear this month, lawmakers will have to work quickly on payroll tax relief, emergency unemployment benefits, and reauthorization of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), all of which were only extended through February .Goodwill® looks forward to Congress addressing several other issues of importance to the enterprise and the people we serve.
