Get ready, Goodwill advocates! Virtual Advocacy Day is in one week.

Next Thursday, April 11, Goodwill leaders, employees, board members and program participants throughout the country will congregate in Washington, DC to press lawmakers to support issues that matter most to local Goodwill organizations and the people they serve. Help us amplify this effort by participating in Goodwill’s Virtual Advocacy Day.

On April 11, we invite you to ask your member of Congress on social media to support our colleagues advocating in person. We will be asking Congress to protect funding for workforce development and job training programs, expand charitable giving incentives, and provide back pay for federal contractors (including local Goodwill employees) who are still recovering from the government shutdown.

You can find your member of Congress on the right side of the GII’s Legislative Action Center and their Twitter handles on this page. Remember to tag #GoodwillOnHill in your posts!

Sample Twitter posts:

  • @[Senator or Representative’s Twitter Handle] We call on you to protect investments that allow Goodwill to do more to help people find jobs and advance in their careers! #GoodwillOnHill
  • @[Senator or Representative’s Twitter Handle] Nonprofits like Goodwill are vital to communities in our home state. Please support the expansion of charitable giving incentives! #GoodwillOnHill
  • @[Senator or Representative’s Twitter Handle] We urge you provide back pay to the hardworking federal contractors who have yet to see financial relief from weeks of missed paychecks on account of the government shutdown! @GoodwillCapHill

Your voice is vital to ensuring Congress invests in America’s workforce. RSVP today to be a part of the action and follow us on Twitter @GoodwillCapHill where will be covering #GoodwillOnHill!
