September is National Self Care Month, and if you’re reading this article it’s not a coincidence – this is your reminder to treat yourself this month! It can be so easy to put yourself last on the to-do list, whether you’re taking care of others first, constantly feel like there’s not enough hours in the day, or simply can’t give yourself permission to take some time to relax. This month it’s important to remember that you can only show up as your best self in the world if you’ve taken the time to recharge the parts of you that make you unique.

Because each person is different, there are so many different ways to practice self care. For some, sitting on a park bench with a good book can do the trick. For others, it’s a luxurious midday nap. Others might prefer a spa day or even a quiet walk on the beach. Whatever self care looks like for you, remember it’s important to practice it every so often. It’s okay to rest!

Self care doesn’t have to be expensive. When you think spa day, you could take the time to do an at-home facial and body scrub. If your version of self care is time to walk or exercise, all you need is a pair of sneakers and athletic clothes. If you’re reading this blog, it’s likely shopping can be one of your types of self care too – and shopping at Goodwill in particular can help you get the job done on a budget.

Check out some of the self care inspiration below from real Goodwill shoppers. If you take some time for self care using thrifted items, be sure to tag us @goodwillintl in your posts!

If relaxing to you includes a beauty refresh, consider how reimagining your bathroom could help you do so for an at home spa night. I love how this Goodwill shopper spruced up her space with artwork and a tissue box from Goodwill that match her room perfectly. Whether you soak in the bathtub or give yourself a manicure, taking a moment to refresh your appearance can make you feel as good as you’ll look.
