My Story: Derrick Glass

Derrick Glass 200My name is Derrick Glass, and I’m an employee of the Albemarle Road Goodwill store in Charlotte, NC.
I went to Goodwill’s Career Development Center more than 20 years ago because I needed help learning how to gain employment, maintain a job, be more independent, and to do great things. Over the course of a year, I worked closely with two job coaches who taught me the basic skills for how to become a good worker, and I adapted and learned how to be a good employee.
After working with the job coaches for a year, I was hired to work at the Albemarle Road store as a donation processor. This past May, I celebrated my 20th anniversary with the Albemarle Road store and Goodwill.
It’s important to maintain a good job so I can be independent, successful, and an inspiration to others. Goodwill and my job coaches helped me learn those things. I feel totally blessed by God and the gifts He has given me, and I hope to use those gifts to help others. I want to continue
doing good work, not only for Goodwill but also for the honor and glory of God.
