My Goodwill Story – Dajhaun
When Dajhaun first walked through the doors of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky (Louisville), he wasn’t sure where life was headed. He joined Young Adult Opportunity Campus’s “The Spot” program with questions about his future and doubts about his own potential. But what he found there was more than just a program — it was a community that believed in him before he fully believed in himself.
With steady encouragement from mentors and peers, Dajhaun began to grow. Through the Thrive process, which centers on personal growth and professional development, he discovered a passion that would shape his future: fitness. As he focused on his physical health, he also began to understand the deep connection between mental and physical well-being. That realization became a turning point.
Motivated by his own transformation, Dajhaun set a goal to become a certified fitness instructor. He worked hard, stayed focused and eventually earned a position at Crunch Fitness. There, he quickly became known for his energy, knowledge and commitment to helping others reach their goals. His ability to connect with clients and provide excellent service helped him build strong relationships and a solid reputation.
But Dajhaun’s journey didn’t stop at the gym. He recently moved into his own apartment — a milestone that marked his growing independence and the progress he’s made. He also completed a customer service cohort, earning an industry-recognized credential that’s expanded his skills and opened new doors in the fitness world.
Dajhaun’s story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people are given the tools, support and space to thrive. On World Mental Health Day, we celebrate his resilience and the role that mental wellness plays in building a brighter future. His journey is far from over, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
