My Story: Sarouet Ouk

I had a lot of barriers that I was going through. I was going to school, and I enrolled in the GED program. I was confused and lost, and I ended up dropping out.

Seattle Goodwill Industries Employment Specialist Robert Jones actually pulled me into the Green Corps program that he was running. I’ve passed four of my tests so far, and now I only have one more and then I’ll have my GED.

At Goodwill I received life skills, college 101 preparation and job training skills. I would like to go to college and get my BA in sociology, to become a counselor.

I have gotten a lot out of the program, I have hope and I feel a part of something. Before, I was kind of alone, so I feel really good. I feel like I’m making a lot of improvements.
