My Goodwill Story – Trevor

Trevor PiercyTrevor’s journey with Goodwill Kentucky (Louisville) began unexpectedly at a local post office. While there, he needed a stamp and happened to ask a Goodwill career coach. It sparked a conversation about Trevor’s life and Goodwill’s services. Intrigued by the programs offered, Trevor attended an orientation the very next day.

Trevor needed a support system to help him achieve his goals, and Goodwill was the perfect fit. He enrolled in Goodwill programming, determined to get his life on track. Trevor committed to attending all services in person, participating in job readiness classes, going through professional development sessions and meeting with the housing team. He also received mental health services.

Achieving Professional Growth

Trevor’s dedication paid off. Through training and professional development, he secured a paid internship with Habitat for Humanity. This opportunity was a stepping stone to a brighter future. After completing his internship, Trevor was hired at Goodwill’s 2nd Chance Outlet, where he now earns a significantly higher wage than at his previous job.

With a steady income, Trevor was able to move into his own apartment. Goodwill’s housing team assisted him in completing the assessment for a housing voucher and even provided a bed for his new home. Trevor’s story is a testament to the power of combining perseverance and support. Reflecting on his journey, Trevor believes, “If you put your mind to it, anything is possible.”
