RETHINKING OUR PRIORITIES: EARTH DAY IS EVERY DAY

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed everything is getting expensive these days. We’re all paying more for food, gas, rent and utilities — inflation is rearing its ugly head again and hitting us all where it hurts. At least these tight times make us rethink our priorities.

Do we really need that certain brand of hummus that only the fancy organic grocery store carries? Maybe it’s time to try and make it ourselves.

Do we really need to fill the SUV with a full tank? Maybe it’s time to carpool with a neighbor or walk a bit more where we can.

The same rethinking goes for the items we own for everyday living — things like clothes, housewares, entertainment and décor. It’s a good thing that helping you save money on lightly used items is where Goodwill® has been excelling for years.

Buy Used Books

If you want to find some good summer reads, I guarantee it’ll be cheaper to find a paperback copy at Goodwill than ordering online or downloading the audio version. That means you can get as many beach day books as you want without breaking the bank.

Your Spring Refresh

Are you finding yourself ready for a spring home refresh? Goodwill has you covered. It’s all for a fraction of those online houseware websites. You’ll help the Earth, too, by preventing all the plastic packaging, supply-chain delays and the fuel it would’ve taken to transport it to you. And, I promise you, you’ll be surprised by what you find at your local Goodwill since you’re not the only one in spring refresh mode. Plus, if you’re up for a little paint or reupholstery work, some elbow grease goes a long way with your Goodwill finds!

Are you still not convinced that you can shop more sustainably?

Whether you work an office job or just want to look professional at home, Goodwill has lots of great office looks with excellent prices. If you are driving into the office, remember to carpool for that extra Earth Day bonus.

Let’s hope that the inflation rates go down soon, but in the meantime, pick up some eco-friendly habits that can continue to save you money and help the Earth.
