Goodwill is Never Too Cool for School

Remember the night before the first day of school when you were little? Just thinking about all the new teachers, new friends, new faces, and new routines always had me practically vibrating with excitement at what the next day would hold. The smell of new crayons, the first-day outfit planning– it was all so routine, until last year.

This year, with the pandemic in the rearview and the return of what will hopefully be a more “normal” school year once again, it’s time to start thinking about how we can help our kiddos re-acclimate to the halls of academia and put their best foot forward.

It’s been a weird fashion hiatus. Between all the growing they’ve done and only a sporadic need to put on dress shoes (remember those?) or wear “hard pants,” it’s time to get reacquainted with buttons and zippers of the before-times– affordably. Goodwill is here to help. With all the closet purging that’s been done in the last year, you’re definitely in for a treat. Goodwill is the perfect place to find something as unique as they are, and plenty of stuff they can grow into, at a price that won’t require a chunk of your stimulus check. Whether it’s vintage sweaters, structured tops, or shoes that actually have an arch in them (GASP!) Goodwill has exactly what you need to get back in the back-to-school game.

Don’t worry though, the loungewear-level of comfort you got used to since 2020 is still totally goals for back-to-school fashion, too. Fall sweaters you can swim in can look just as good in the halls of high school as they did on the couch with a laptop.

With all the lessons we’ve learned over the last year, there are a few worth holding on to. Helping our neighbors, caring for our environment, and being true to our authentic selves are all things that Goodwill is SO here for. With every purchase, not only are you making a fashion statement that will help your kiddos (and YOU) make that grand first-day-of-school entrance, but you’re also helping others by supporting job training programs that lift your community up.

Being too-cool-for-school never looked so good!
