A Floral Festive Galentineโ€™s Day to Remember

With Pretty in Pink on the screen, a handful of conversation hearts and your favorite drinks on the table, youโ€™ve set the scene for a cozy Galentineโ€™s night in with your best friends. Celebrating your love and appreciation for all things girly and the great friendships in your life is the perfect way to mark the festive February holiday. But what happens when Galentineโ€™s Day is over, and itโ€™s back to regular life? What if there was something you could create during your Galentineโ€™s Day celebration that you could take with you into the rest of the month? When I think about some of the friendships in my life that Iโ€™m most grateful for, itโ€™s the women who really get me and the things I love โ€” like writing, thrifting and baking sweet treats for the special people in my life. Some of these friends live nearby, but some are a plane ride away. Which means, whenever we are all together, itโ€™s really special and something we want to make the most of. While Galentineโ€™s Day is a fun holiday to celebrate in person, you can also celebrate it with friends near and far with a little bit of creativity! A lot of my friends, like me, love shopping at Goodwill and finding unexpected treasures that inspire new projects. My most recent trip to Goodwill sparked an idea that I could do with friends, no matter where they lived. All they needed was a trip to Goodwill, a few different types of flowers and Internet access. Shopping at Goodwill is fun for so many reasons. I love walking into the store and knowing that Iโ€™m about to find items that are just a fraction of what theyโ€™d cost in a regular retail store. I also love knowing that by shopping there, Iโ€™m not only reducing the demand for overproduction of new goods, but Iโ€™m also supporting the local community through the skills training programs Goodwill stores fund. Itโ€™s a win-win, and with Goodwill stores all around the country, this is something I can do in New Jersey, while my friends in New York, California, Tennessee and Florida can all do the same. This trip to Goodwill is where I came across the most beautiful crystal vases sitting on the shelf for just a few bucks each. I just knew that theyโ€™d have to come home with me and that Iโ€™d be able to decorate my home with them by filling them with pink, red and purple flowers. And my friends could do it too. I set up a virtual video call with my besties and gave them the instructions โ€” we were going to all go thrift a pretty vase at Goodwill, grab a bunch of flowers (depending on where you live, you might even have some in your backyard) and get together for a few hours over the phone as we put together our festive floral arrangements. I was so happy with how mine came out! They might not last forever, but the memory of spending quality time with my best friends certainly will. ย
