Veterans are some of the most honorable members of our society. They dedicate their blood, sweat, tears and cherished time with beloved family and friends and also importantly risk their lives to serve our country. Additionally, many people in uniform also face a myriad of challenges when their commitment is over, and they arrive back home.

Some election results are still being tabulated and there are many unknowns concerning what the outcomes at the federal, state, and local levels will mean for the interests of Goodwill, the charitable sector, and those we serve. What we do know is that there are several opportunities to raise awareness of Goodwill’s mission, build new relationships and strengthen current ones, and increase our public policy influence.

My Goodwill Story: Dominique

As we honor Native American Heritage Month this November, we are proud to share the story of Dominique, a member of the Native American community, who has made remarkable strides with the support of Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona (Tucson). Dominique’s journey with Goodwill began through the Tucson Adult Probation Offices. Encouraged by his probation officer, Dominique enrolled in the Ignite 2.0 program, seeking to learn a trade skill and set his life on a new path. His commitment to self-improvement and determination to succeed quickly became evident.

We have reached the home stretch in the 2024 general election. On Tuesday, November 5th, voters will elect the 47th president of the United States. In addition to the presidential race, there are elections for 34 U.S. Senate seats, 435 U.S. House of Representatives seats, state legislative races across 44 states, and 11 races for governor, alongside scores of municipal races and ballot initiatives.

My Goodwill Story – David

In celebration of Veterans Day, we are proud to share the story of David, a dedicated veteran who made great use of support from Goodwill Industries of South Texas (Corpus Christi). David’s journey highlights the importance of community outreach and the transformative power of a determined veteran.  David discovered Goodwill’s services through outreach for veterans. Eager to learn about the available programs, he sought to establish a partnership between his local office and Goodwill Industries. His goal was to enhance support for veterans in his community.

A disability can refer to any number of mental or physical impairments. Blindness, deafness, autism, post-traumatic stress, and depression are just a few. Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act pertains to employment and ensures that individuals with impairments are not discriminated against during hiring, promotions, pay, training or social activities at work. Additionally, there are other provisions in this federal civil rights law that provide protections regarding transportation accessibility and business infrastructure accommodations.
