While Hispanic Heritage Month does span 30 days, it’s actually celebrated between two months. It starts September 15 and runs until October 15. That’s because September 15 is Independence Day for many countries in Latin America. As we kick off this month-long celebration, we wanted to share Juan’s story.
He came to Goodwill Industries of South Florida (Miami), wanting to learn and potentially advance into a new career. In particular, he heard about some of the free certification programs offered by Google through Goodwill®.
Juan was motivated and very independent throughout the process. He knew what he wanted to achieve. Goodwill served as the connection between this motivated individual and the training programs that he needed.
Juan decided to enroll in the Google IT Support Certification program. This connected to his desire to eventually enter the IT field. Since he has completed the certification, Juan now has foundational skills related to IT that he can use to launch his new career.
While he’s still looking for the right position, we know that Juan’s motivation and can-do attitude will get him far when it comes to accomplishing everything he dreams of.
When asked about the experience with Goodwill, Juan simply said, “I am grateful for the opportunity!”
