The Detroit Goodwill is continuing its third year of partnership with the Detroit Lions that enables fans to donate gently used items at the Goodwill “Donate for Jobs” truck in front of Ford Field at every home game this season.

“Lions fans have the opportunity to help their friends and neighbors become trained, trusted and ready to work, by visiting the Goodwill “Donate for Jobs” truck on their way to the game,” explained Lorna G. Utley, president and CEO of the Detroit Goodwill.

From the time gates open until one hour after the game, fans can drop off items or monetary donations at the Goodwill truck located near one of Ford Field’s main gates. Contributors will receive a 20 percent off coupon for use during a non-game day at the Lions’ Store located at Ford Field. The partnership also includes a Goodwill presence on the Detroit Lions’ website as well as in the team’s game day program and other fan communications.

This year’s efforts are part of a larger partnership between the Detroit Lions, Goodwill and other community organizations called “Living for the City.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Goodwill recently announced that players Michael Oher, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson will host this year’s Goodwill Gridiron Halloween party on Monday, October 29.

Entering its 13th year, the Halloween party and silent auction will feature Baltimore Ravens players along with many from the area business community. Over 600 people attended last year’s event, including 15 Ravens, which helped to raise nearly $135,000 for Goodwill.

“We are excited to once again team up with the Ravens,” said Lisa Rusyniak, president and CEO of the Baltimore Goodwill. “Michael Oher, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson will be great hosts, and we look forward to having a great time with the community for the 13th year!”

The event will include video games, pool, bowling, dancing, a costume contest, catered food, an open bar and a silent auction. Items to be auctioned include Ravens autographed memorabilia, game tickets, golf outings, vacations and more.
