One Week until #GoodwillOnHill

This time next week Goodwill® Advocates from around the country will visit Capitol Hill and meet with hundreds of lawmakers to advocate for the things important to the Goodwill family and the communities they serve.
For over 10 years Goodwill Advocates, including CEOs, staff, board members and program participants, have traveled to Washington D.C. to share their stories and to continue to fight for Goodwill’s efforts to help people find good paying careers.
Citizen advocacy is American as apple pie. Speaking out to our elected officials is how we ask the government for the things we want (or need) and is guaranteed under the first amendment of the United States’ Constitution. This year, our advocates will be asking Congress to protect funding for workforce development and job training programs, to expand charitable giving incentives and to reauthorize the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program.
No matter where you are next week, either in D.C. or back home, you will have the opportunity to make your voice heard. For those unable to make it in person, we ask that you participate in the 2018 Goodwill Virtual Advocacy Day.  Your virtual advocacy matters and will help supplement fellow advocates’ efforts as they visit with lawmakers.
RSVP today at the Facebook event page here. And, as the event draws near, we’ll be sharing sample tweets, social media graphics, and an action alert on GII’s Legislative Action Center along with other ideas on how you can take action.
For those traveling to D.C., we look forward to seeing you next week! And for those participating virtually, we look forward to working side-by-side with you as we fight for the issues important to local Goodwill organizations. Make sure to follow us @GoodwillCapHill and to follow the hashtag #GoodwillOnHill.
