Goodwill Southern California (Los Angeles) and partners NBC4 and Universal Studios Hollywood set a new world record for the most usable goods donations received in a 24-hour period. The donation drive, which was a promoted as a celebration of Earth Day 2012, recently received confirmation that the 27,290 pounds of items it collected set a Guinness World Record.

Devin was incarcerated and had a history of substance abuse when he first learned about Goodwill. Even with support from agencies like Goodwill®, pathways out of poverty for the unemployed aren’t always clear. A new partnership between Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan’s Heartland (Battle Creek) and key community organizations is helping individuals living at 200 percent below the poverty level connect with education, work experience and certification in order to gain guaranteed employment.

Tabitha had split up with her husband and was living in a homeless shelter when she first heard about Goodwill. Staff helped her sharpen her job search and interview skills, and connected her with a position at a local hospital. Since getting hired, she has reunited with her husband and says her family is doing great.

With a lot of really unique patterns and colors ranging from brand new to 50 years old or more, and still unused, the selection is remarkable! Plus, you can buy bulk yardage without paying the price for it. At fabric stores, it isn't unheard of to pay nearly $10 a yard, but at Goodwill you can buy six or seven yards for less than $5.
