FAQs
What is National Thrift Shop Day?
National Thrift Shop Day is celebrated on August 17th every year. It’s a day dedicated to thrifting, but particularly thrifting with nonprofits. Goodwill is a nonprofit organization, and we encourage you to find other nonprofit thrift stores in your area to support, too.
What do Goodwill stores fund? What does Goodwill do as a nonprofit?
As a nonprofit, Goodwill stores help fund free career training, educational opportunities or other support systems designed to ensure more people can find and maintain well-paid employment. That could include jobs in clean tech, IT, cybersecurity, skilled trades and more. Every Goodwill is operated locally to ensure programs are tailored to the community and local employer needs. Our blog includes stories of people who received support from their local Goodwill organizations.
What deals are going on at Goodwill for National Thrift Shop Day?
Since every Goodwill is operated locally, each will have its own special events, and deals for the day. Scroll up to the locator on this page to visit your local Goodwill organization’s website and learn more about what it has planned for NTSD.
