Pop!: Goodwill® Debuts First-Ever Pop-Up Shop at SXSW

Vintage and Designer Threads on Sale March 9-11, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Goodwill Industries International and Goodwill Industries of Central Texas (Austin) are hosting their first pop-up retail shop, POP! The brand, Goodwill, has been around for 110 years, but in recent years has revamped its retail strategy to include boutiques, trunk shows and other venues that appeal to a younger audience. During the POP! shop, consumers will be able to choose from a selection of unique items, including vintage and contemporary fashions and accessories, and designer labels. Revenue generated from the shop will help put people to work in Austin.
The shop itself will operate from March 9-11, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at 315 Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701. All the merchandise featured in the shop was donated at Goodwill locations in the Austin area, and especially selected for the sale.
“The pop-up shop is an exciting opportunity to reach out to SXSW attendees to give them a unique shopping experience, along with an education about Goodwill’s mission of job training and the impact that shopping can have on people in their communities,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “In addition, the pop-up shop will showcase the type of quality vintage and contemporary fashions, apparel and accessories available at Goodwill stores not only in Austin, but around the country.”
Along with great bargains, shoppers will have the opportunity to interact with Goodwill’s spokespeople, including Evette Rios, star of ABC’s “The Chew” and Univision’s “Despierta America,” and Austin resident Lorie Marrero, Certified Professional Organizer®, author of the best-selling book, The Clutter Diet, and organizing expert for Good Housekeeping.
During the sale, the shopper who is the foursquare® mayor on Monday, March 11 at noon is eligible for a special prize. The lucky winner must claim his/her prize anytime on the 11th from noon to 6 p.m. In addition, various prizes will be awarded daily. Shoppers can stay up to date about promotions during the event on Twitter at @GoodwillIntl and @AustinGoodwill
Revenue raised through the pop-up shop will support Goodwill Industries of Central Texas’ mission of generating lifelong connections to work.
