Google, Goodwill Partner to Provide One Million People Digital Skills Training

Google.org and Goodwill have announced the launch of the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator(SM). Funded by a $10 million grant from Google.org and with the assistance of 1,000 Google volunteers, the new Goodwill initiative will equip more than one million people to receive vital digital skills training over the next three years that will enable them to become more marketable and advance in today’s labor market.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there are currently more than 6 million job openings in the United States. Many of these jobs remain unfilled because job applicants lack specific skills employers report they need. This innovative initiative will allow local Goodwill organizations to enhance their job training programs to incorporate the ever-changing demand for new skills in the digital economy, and help people to thrive in today’s workforce. Together, Goodwill and Google.org are joining forces to bring people to the frontline of the changing workforce, and transform their lives.
