Pick a costume, any costume. When you shop at Goodwill, you are no longer limited by the availability of certain ready-made costumes or by the funds in your bank account. You’re limited only by your imagination. Anything is possible! No matter how obscure your costume idea is, it can happen with a little help from your local Goodwill.

Take, for example, the crafty people who shop at Goodwill Industries of Hawaii (Honolulu). One family actually dressed up as Joe, Patricia, and two Waponis from the film Joe Versus the Volcano (starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan). This is a cult classic and one of my all-time favorite movies, so I was very excited to see it make an appearance in their Halloween photo gallery. What’s your favorite movie? I’m sure you can pull together at least one character costume from the racks at your local Goodwill! Why stop with just one, though? Group and couples costumes are even more fun, wouldn’t you agree?

Deanna from the blog The Harris Sisters knows what I mean. She and her husband John pulled together some dazzling Clue-inspired costumes for a party they attended. Both costumes put together cost less than $25 and they only had to make two stops – their closets, and Goodwill! “This is all great,” you might be thinking, “but I want to be something scary for Halloween!” It’s okay. Goodwill has plenty of options there, too! Check this out…

If you think it’s too soon to start the search for your Halloween costume, think again! Waiting too long will only mean that you’ll be competing with everyone else for the perfect pieces. Right now, Goodwill stores across the U.S. and Canada are putting out the Halloween stock that has been donated throughout the past year. Grab it before it’s gone!
So skip the stale costume store stock and create your own unique look this Halloween season. When it’s complete, share it with us online! Goodwill is your Halloween Headquarters and we just love to see the creative costumes that our customers put together. By the way, you aren’t just saving money when you thrift shop, you’re also saving the world. Through its entrepreneurial business model of collecting and selling donated goods, Goodwill helps communities extend the life of usable items in environmentally sound ways, and prevents items from piling up in local landfills. That’s happy haunting! Have fun pulling together your look whether it’s spooky, stunning, or just plain strange.
