Hey guys, its Marisa from New Dress A Day here! The holidays are within arm’s reach and we all know what that means – lots of sugar cookies and sweet treats in the office kitchen, lots of seasonal commercials for Black Friday deals, and lots of holiday parties! My schedule is already booked full, and I haven’t even thought of what to wear!
With multiples soirees on the agenda, a mix of plane tickets to purchase and the handful of family gifts to grab, the budget for looking festive is a tight one. By shopping at Goodwill®, not only do I save money, but also at the same time I’m helping to provide job training and job placement opportunities for individuals in my community. I think that’s the holiday spirit that I’m most excited about!
I went into Goodwill with a holiday outfit mission: for three different kind of parties, I want to find completely different outfits that will work across the board, from the office party to the glam New Year’s Eve cocktail soiree with friends! I’ll be that girl in the store bopping around the aisles because I’m singing “Jingle Bell Rock” in my head. Apologies in advance.
LOOK #1: OFFICE HOLIDAY PARTY
I found a chic red dress with panels of black lace on the front of it, which is totally office appropriate – perfect for the group lunch or white elephant happy hour exchange party. I love this piece because not only is it seasonal, it’s also still going to work flawlessly in my wardrobe outside of the holidays. Paired with some textured tights and patent black flats, I’m ready to wear Santa hats with the work cohorts!
LOOK #2: FESTIVE HOLIDAY SWEATER PARTY
I think festive holiday sweater parties are now a holiday staple. I took one look in the sweater section and found this gem, no pun intended! With a pair of jeans and some bow-topped heels, it’s time to take lots of pictures with all the other sweater-wearers!
LOOK #3: NEW YEAR’S EVE COCKTAIL SOIREE
I feel like New Year’s calls for a little bit of glamour, so when I saw this sequined dream, I knew I found my ensemble. This vintage sparkler really doesn’t need much to accompany it, but paired with a vintage clutch (also from Goodwill) and some heels, I’m ready to countdown to 2014!
I found three fantastically seasonal ensembles for a little more than $20 (the sweater was half off) total, which works well in my holiday budget. The white elephant spending limit is $25 – maybe I just wrap these guys up? Kidding aside, I couldn’t be more excited and enthusiastic to wear my “new” pieces. It’s time to party and “rock around the Christmas tree”! Happy Holidays!
