DIY Fraggle Rock™ Halloween Costumes ft. Robert Bennett

Did you know that 1983 was an important year for pop culture?

It heralded the invention of the computer mouse, the creation of the infamous moonwalk, and the introduction of Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock™. Premiering January 10, 1983, the popular children’s musical-fantasy-comedy-puppet TV series became an instant success, resulting in more than 90 episodes over 5 seasons.

Created by Jim Henson and his team, the show’s message promotes inclusion and community and features Fraggles, Doozers, Gorgs and plenty of memorable songs and stories that are beloved worldwide. Forty years later, Gobo, Boober, Mokey, Wembley, Red, Doc, Sprocket and the whole Fraggle gang continue their adventures in Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock (Apple TV+), where they encourage generosity, sustainability and camaraderie, and celebrate the magic that happens when we care for the interconnected world we all share.

This Halloween, we teamed up with Robert Bennett of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop™ to help him create two DIY Fraggle Rock costumes for Halloween. Pieces for the outfits are sustainably sourced with items that can be found at home or at your local Goodwill store.

“As a kid, I always made my own Halloween costumes,” Robert says. “And [Goodwill] is where I would come to find stuff. Thrifting is the best way to find unique things you won’t find anywhere else.“

Follow along as he gets creative, providing insider tips on how to craft your Fraggle Rock costume using tools you can find around the house or at your local craft and Goodwill store.
