Dr. James K. Hazy, associate professor of management and entrepreneurship at Adelphi University, has been named treasurer of the Goodwill Industries International board of directors and will serve a one-year term. Dr. Hazy had previously served on the board contributing to the audit, finance, international and strategic issues and planning committees.

When William ‘Bill’ Carver first approached Goodwill of North Georgia to volunteer, he committed to one, seven-hour day each week at the agency’s Woodstock Career Center. He has been a Goodwill volunteer for only 18 months but has far exceeded his original goal. For his commitment to volunteerism and the Goodwlll® mission, Carver has been honored by Goodwill Industries International with the 2011 Elsine Katz Volunteer Leader of the Year Award.

The Goodwill Industries International Board of Directors has elected Bill J. Kacal of Houston, TX, as its new chair, to serve a one-year term. Kacal took office during the annual Goodwill® Delegate Assembly, which was held in June in Tacoma, WA. Kacal is a certified public accountant and has been with Deloitte & Touche LLP for nearly 40 years where he is currently a senior partner. He is a member of the Deloitte & Touche Board of Directors and is currently the deputy regional managing partner for Mid America Audit. Kacal is currently the chairman of the board for Goodwill Industries® of Houston and previously served as the vice chairman for the Goodwill Industries International Board of Directors.
