Gig Economy Provides New Options to “Liquid Workforce”

The emergence of self-service online labor markets, including Upwork, 99Designs, TaskRabbit, Uber, and dozens more, has facilitated the rise of the gig economy; these crowdsourcing platforms make it easier for companies to contract with independent workers for short-term projects. The ‘gigs’ found on these markets can provide workers, including those having difficulty finding traditional employment, with income, and the opportunity to build skill and experience.

Establish New Traditions for Memorial Day

This weekend America will celebrate the heroes we have lost during combat over the many years of our nation’s history. Give Grads the Gift of a Career

My Facebook feed has recently been filled with pictures from the class of 2016. My cousin Sofia graduated from the University of Florida, a friend received her master’s degree from Howard, and President Obama gave the commencement address at my alma mater, Rutgers University. Feeling Fruity: Pineapple Inspired Creations

For centuries, the pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality, fortune, and, yes, goodwill. So it seemed only fitting that we take some time to highlight this fantastic fruit! As it turns out, we’re not the only ones inspired by its spiny beauty. In fact, pineapples have been a pretty trendy motif for a while now. I’ve seen this shape gracing small brass statues in magazines for almost $100 and wallpaper that would be over $1,000 to install, but if you keep reading you’ll find a few fun ways to cash in on this juicy fad (other than putting it in a fruit salad) without parting with all of your cash.

Support Our Veterans During Military Appreciation Month

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members - past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.
