Is It Time To Look For Another Job?

At some point, all of us have asked ourselves that question. Today I’ll discuss some reasons why – or why not – you might want to start looking for that next opportunity. Generations since the 1950’s have seen a huge shift in worker mobility. Loyalty, however defined, by both the company and worker, is largely gone. No longer do companies typically keep workers when business tails off. Workers are much more apt to change not just jobs, but careers, multiple times during their lifetime.

Goodwill® Supports Financial Literacy Month

Since April is "Financial Literacy Month", we thought we’d take a break from talking about money in the billions and trillions (as is the norm here in DC) and instead focus on finances in amounts that are more relevant to most of us. Francisco Arellano

Francisco Arellano came to Triad Goodwill’s Asheboro Career Center for our English as a Second Language class (ESL) and GED program. The free training helped him improve his English reading and comprehension skills. Unlike many ESL/GED students, Francisco always completed his “homework,” which helped him pass his GED test! “Before coming here, I struggled at work every day. I needed an interpreter and there wasn’t always someone available to translate for me. This made learning and working harder for me,” said Francisco. In order to learn more English, I would listen to people tell stories and I kept trying hard to understand what they were saying.”

Carollee “Carrie” Bethea

Carrie is a graduate of Triad Goodwill’s Jobs on the Outside (J.O.T.O.) program. The classes helped her learn how to break down the barriers faced by ex-offenders. “J.O.T.O. allowed me to get the skill set I needed to rebrand myself and get back into the work force. They helped me realize I could pursue the career of my choice,” said Carollee.
