Feeling Fruity: Pineapple Inspired Creations

For centuries, the pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality, fortune, and, yes, goodwill. So it seemed only fitting that we take some time to highlight this fantastic fruit! As it turns out, we’re not the only ones inspired by its spiny beauty. In fact, pineapples have been a pretty trendy motif for a while now. I’ve seen this shape gracing small brass statues in magazines for almost $100 and wallpaper that would be over $1,000 to install, but if you keep reading you’ll find a few fun ways to cash in on this juicy fad (other than putting it in a fruit salad) without parting with all of your cash.

Bookworms Rejoice: Storage Solutions for Your Abundant Collection

Any bibliophile knows how a rare edition of their favorite book (even if they already own two other versions) is a necessary purchase, and how although I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, that gorgeous tome just NEEDS a new home (on my bookshelf) right now. It’s these struggles that often get us into trouble with spouses or square footage. But in my mind, excessive book buying is okay if we can just find the perfect spot. Am I right? Here are a few tips I’ve learned along my way through life as a chronic book buyer.

Spring at Goodwill® Means Finding a Fresh Start

What’s the most exciting thing about the springtime? For me, it’s how BRIGHT everything becomes. After the time change there are more daylight hours and once the leaves pop, their vibrant greens seem to electrify the air. Today I want to focus on how we can capture that luminous quality that springtime has and use it to enthuse the rest of our lives.

Creative Repurposing: Three Fresh Ideas

With Earth Day only two weeks away and environmental consciousness on everyone’s mind, we thought we’d share a little about how Goodwill® helps to save our planet. On top of creating a wonderful opportunity for neighbors to reuse one another’s second-hand items through retail stores, Goodwill stock that doesn’t sell after a significant amount of time in stores and outlets is baled and sold to textile recyclers, which extends the life of already manufactured goods. Right there we have two of the three sustainability Rs, now let’s look at the third: reduce. Here are a few fresh ways that people have reduced their need to buy new things simply by reusing the old for their creative repurposing projects!

On The Prowl for Wild Finds? Try Goodwill®!

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who wasn’t absolutely charmed by at least one particular species of animal. Some identify as “cat people”, some as “dog people”, but most individuals seem to go gaga for basically any furry animal. Other critters, too, manage to fly, swim, or scamper into the hearts of humans without a whole lot of effort. There’s just some innate connection we feel with the other members of the animal kingdom that makes us want to include them in our lives. Today I want to celebrate that friendship, and what better way than by sharing some incredible Goodwill finds?

Going Green for St. Patrick's Day

Every March 17, I wake up, head to my closet to get dressed, and I’m surprised to see that there is not a green shirt in sight. “Ugh, that’s right!” I’ll remember, with frustration, thinking about how my lack of planning will get me pinched repeatedly throughout the day. How could I have let this happen again? You see, green just doesn’t look great on me and the other 364 days of the year pass perfectly fine without my incorporating green into my wardrobe. Then comes St. Patrick’s Day and I remember how I promised myself the previous year that I would just get something green to wear for one day to avoid all of the pain.
